Bhubaneswar: The Subject Expert Committee of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) on Saturday made recommendations for grant of permission to the indigenously developed coronavirus vaccine Covaxin with certain conditions.
IMS and SUM Hospital is in the list of 21 medical institutes selected across the country by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) where the vaccine trial is being conducted. It is the only institution in Odisha to have been selected for the trial.
Bharat Biotech, which has developed Covaxin in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), had applied to the Drugs Controller General Of India (DCGI) seeking emergency use authorisation (EUA) for its vaccine candidate Covaxin on December 7.
